Moldova’s European integration does not happen only in Brussels or Chisinau. It also grows through relationships formed in cities, businesses and institutions across Europe. On 14 October 2026, I represented Moldova at the official Manchester celebration of Spain’s National Day. The occasion demonstrated how local diplomatic visibility, diaspora connections and sustained engagement with EU member states can support Moldova’s European future.

Moldova’s international standing grows not only through formal diplomacy, but also through visible participation in local civic life. On 11 October 2026, I joined fellow consular representatives in the diplomatic procession of the High Sheriff of Merseyside at Liverpool Cathedral. A particularly proud moment came when young Moldovan Constantin Cojocaru, one of the High Sheriff’s Cadets, read a prayer during the service. His contribution showed how positive integration, public service and cultural identity can strengthen both Moldova and the United Kingdom.

Moldova’s diaspora can do more than preserve culture and community connections. It can help exporters find buyers, investors understand the market and institutions build trusted partnerships. Following my meeting with Moldova’s Office for Diaspora Relations, I examine how diaspora economic diplomacy can strengthen links between Moldova and the North West of England. I also introduce the First UK Business-Led Trade Mission to Moldova, which will coincide with Moldova Business Week 2026.
